Exodus 3 and 4

In this chapters Moses is watching the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, and while he was watching them he saw a bush that was flaming but was not burning. When he saw this he went to see what he could learn about this bush,and when he did so god spoke to him from the bush saying to him to go to and free his people from hand of the Pharaoh. But even with of Moses's faith, he doubted that he could do what god asked, and every time god told him that he would be with Moses, Moses came up with another excuse. God even turned Moses's rod into a snake, but Moses still didn't believe he could free the Israelite. So god send Aaron to be Moses's speaker to the Egyptians. This just goes to show how even when God shows his power to us, we still don't completely trust him.

Colossians 2

Off and on through the second verse of Colossians, Paul mentions some of the customs upheld bt the Jews. When speaking of them, he did not say that these customs had to be followed. He told the people that they should not let others judge them acording to these Jewish customs. It's a reminder that to be a Christian doesn't mean following a bunch of man-made rules. -V

Exodus 2

During the time of Exodus chapter2, the Pharaoh over Egypt had ordered that every new born boy from the Israelites be killed. But a man from the house of Levi had a child, and his wife hid the child for 3 months. Eventually she couldn't hide hide him anymore. She then put him in a basket and placed him in the Nile River. Now if I was her I would be thinking that putting the baby in the water had to be the dumbest thing possible. I mean there are crocodiles, hippos and other things that could kill the baby in that river. So why did she put him in the river? I have no clue, but oddly enough it worked, and he was found by the daughter of Pharaoh. Then the sister of the baby spoke to the Pharaoh's daughter saying that she could find someone to raise the child for her. Pharaoh's daughter agreed and the mother of the baby was chosen to raise her own child, plus she was payed to do it. So in the end the child was safe from danger and his true mother got to raise him. Later, this child grew up to save the people of Israel from slavery.

Philipians 2

In the beginning of Philipians two, the church of Philipi is instructed by paul to be humble like Christ was. Christians should be concerned with one another, instead of being selfishly motivaated. -V

Phillipians 1

I started reading the book of Philipians today. In chapter 1, Paul tells the Phillipians that even though he is in prison, God has used the situation for good, because now the guards knew that he was in prison for God. He also said that because he was in prison, other Christian prisoners had begun to proclain God's word too. -v
